How the downloads are licensed

The installers on this site are tied to our online license server. On installation they start a 15-day trial — no key required and no feature limits during that period.

Once the licence is purchased, activation happens remotely: the machine picks it up from the license server on its next check, with no reinstall and without anyone having to walk up to the machine. The only requirement is that the installation can reach our server.

Installations with no internet access

For installations that have no internet access — and are not going to get it — there is an offline installer. It is a variant of the same product that never contacts the license server: the key is installed permanently on the machine and it runs on its own from then on.

This is the usual route in closed imaging networks, where hospital policy keeps the PACS machine off the internet. It is not downloadable from this site: we supply it on request, together with the key issued for that machine's serial number.

How long a version is supported

Each published version is supported for five years from its release date. During that time we correct defects, answer technical questions and publish updates within the same version line. After it, we no longer maintain that version — the recommended path is to move to the current one.

The licence itself does not expire. Software you have installed keeps running for as long as you want to run it. What ends is our obligation to keep working on that version, not your right to use it.

Replacing a licence key

A licence key is tied to the machine it was issued for. When the hardware changes — a disk is replaced, the operating system is reinstalled, the computer is swapped — the serial number changes and the key has to be reissued.

We reissue keys for five years from the date the licence was purchased, and the first reissue of each licence is free. Later reissues, and planned migrations of more than two licences at once, are quoted as a service. Past the five years, running on different hardware means buying a licence of the current version.

Moving to the current version

Upgrades are handled by the distributor who installed the system, or directly by us if there is none. Tell us the serial number and which version you are on today and we will tell you what the step involves.
